Reflection

So, end of the semester, certainly it has come quicker then I realized. thought for my last post within the class should be some of my thoughts about what I’ve learned, what I enjoyed, and so on.

I think I did well overall with what I wanted to achieve, I certainly pushed myself in some of the projects, and felt like I always had an element of challenge to my idea, alongside the mastering of a new craft.

I think the accordion book or handstitching has to be my favourite technique, but my favourite book I’ve made is likely the altered book project. I’m biased of course because of how personal of a connection it had to me. But I’m eager to hold it in my hands once again, and to gift it to my grandma.

Overall, now with my foot in the door, I’m eager to delve into this craft more, and possibly look into making more books for my own work, possibly as a gallery showcase. Or maybe hand stitching my own sketchbooks from now own.

My mother has asked me to teach her some of the methods, in particular the hand stitching, which i’m very excited to do. We’ll go over it alongside some tea, picked out from my book of course and cookies, so that is what the future of bookbinding looks for me presently.

Cheers everyone :)
