Altered Book

Progress Update

My altered book was finished and brought in for crib. Although there was a few set backs and learning curves, I am rather happy with the result. One of my first ever textile works, as well as an archive of the present state of my gestural work.

I think I've accomplished my goal in wanting to create a tribute to my mother and grandmother, and intend to gift it to my mother on her birthday.

What I'm most satisfied with
    - The quality of sketches themselves
    - The fabric and sewn cover aligning
    - The soft bagginess of the cover
    - The button and thread as a clasp

What I want to improve:
    - The fabric of the spine being sewn rather then glued down
    - The actual stitching of the button
    - To grow my sewing skills as a whole
    - Figuring out embroidering.

I will repost this with a few Photos of the book once I acquire it back from getting marked.
