Accordion Book

Accordion Book

Today in class we had our Crit of our third project, the Accordion Book.

"The Salmon Project"
13 - 02 - 25
Screenprint on Canson Paper, Ink pen

This is my turned in project, and a little creation I hold very dear to my heart. Only two successful editions exist, and the process of creating this book I found to be both a lesson in patience and precision.

Salmon truly are a fun icon for me, a symbol of determination, decay, and the inevitable nature of change and time, and I felt this book to me is a start of something more, perhaps I will make some more accordion books for the art market at Vibe Fest.  :)

I'm very happy with the figures of the salmon, and the result of the print considering the paper truly wasn't picking up the ink on the first pass over. Overall I will be happy once returned to display this on my shelf, the other will find a willing home with someone else to have and to hold.

What I'm most satisfied with
    - The representation of the salmon
    -  The colour scheme of the whole book
    -  The comfort
    -  Learning a new process

What I want to improve:
    - My gluing technique
    - A different paper for next time
    - Cleaner folds
    - More intricate cover?

Another note to keep in mind. over the reading break to find a photo I want to implement into my next assignment. I have a few ideas circulating already, a few old family photographs I could find, or possibly a dig through my camera roll.
